Police in Italy seize 654 kilos of cocaine bound for Thessaloniki
Italian authorities in the region of Calabria on Sunday seized 654 kilos of cocaine onboard a ship bound for the northern port city of Thessaloniki. The cocaine had been stashed in containers filled with bananas and is worth an estimated 50 million euros according to state broadcaster ERT.
Covid-19: 4,701 new cases, 22 deaths, 238 intubations
Greek health authorities announced 4,701 new reported cases of Covid-19 and 22 virus-related deaths during their daily briefing on the course of the pandemic on Sunday. The National Organization for Public Health (EODY) also stated that there are currently 238 intubated patients being treated in Intensive Care Units.

Hepatitis case identified on Crete
A 14-month-old baby in Heraklion, Crete was diagnosed with hepatitis on Sunday and investigations are ongoing to determine whether it is related to the international increase of hepatitis cases reported in young children. The young boy had also been diagnosed with Covid-19 a few months ago.
Hospital directors on Crete dispute infant hepatitis claims
The directors of two of Crete’s largest hospitals, the Heraklion University Hospital and the Venizelos Hospital, have disputed claims made by local media on Sunday morning of an infant hepatitis case in an interview with state broadcaster ERT. The news was also disputed by Lena Borboudaki, director of the 7th Regional Health Authority.
Fire breaks out in Athens plastics warehouse
A fire broke out on Sunday at a plastics warehouse in central Athens. The Hellenic Fire Service arrived rapidly on the scene and are operating with five vehicles and 18 firefighters.
