Motorists have been advised to only fill up their vehicles after sunset due to the “Kleon” heat wave. The Ministry of Environment and Energy has also urged motorists to cut down on the use of their cars in favour of public transport as the heat leads to the accumulation of pollutants in the air.
With temperatures peaking in the low 40s Celsius on Friday, authorities have issued a fire hazard warning for Saturday. According to the fire hazard prediction map published by the Civil Protection Agency, five regions are considered to be at very high risk of wildfires, ranking at Level 4 (orange) out of 5.

An employee of power transmission operator ADMIE has been hospitalized after being electrocuted while cutting branches near power lines in the northwestern region of Florina. State broadcaster ERT said the accident happened after a branch fell on a high voltage cable.
