Leftist Greek MEP Nikos Pappas, a member of the SYRIZA party who is under investigation by French police after allegedly assaulting a compatriot journalist at a bar in Strasbourg on Tuesday night, has acknowledged, in his first public comments since the news broke, that he “reacted wrongly” to what he described as a “provocation” and said he should have handled the situation differently.
