Erdogan ally says judiciary is independent after Turkey’s detention of opposition mayor

The main political ally of President Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey’s judiciary was independent, in comments after the detention of leading opposition figure Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu on Wednesday.
