Island municipalities tackle housing crisis following Crete model

Following a recent initiative on Crete, by the Municipality of Agios Vasileios in Rethymno to repurpose inactive municipal buildings for housing teachers, doctors, and other public-sector employees, the housing crisis in island municipalities has once again come into focus. Four additional island municipalities – Ithaca, Leipsoi, Astypalaia, and Tinos – have approached the Ministry of the Interior seeking funding to implement similar actions.
