The number of farmers becoming active in organic production between 2021 and the end of 2024 has at least tripled. According to the Ministry of Rural Development, organically cultivated land rose from 635,960 hectares in 2021 to 1,540,930 hectares in 2024 – meaning that 17% of Greece’s farmland is now officially classified as organic. Likewise, there has been a sharp increase in organically raised cattle, sheep and goats.
