Only the very brave or the very foolish would predict the political demise of Donald Trump. This is a US president who, over the course of his five-decade career, has escaped multiple brushes with bankruptcy, survived two impeachments in his first term, faced 91 criminal charges and been convicted on 34 of them, survived two assassination attempts, lost an election in 2020, yet was still able to return to office this year more powerful than ever. Even so, it is reasonable to ask whether, in light of recent events, we may have passed peak Trump.
