Seeds for the next iteration of public universities are growing 

Each generation examines and makes demands of higher education. In the 1960s, campuses saw social disturbance and anti-Vietnam War protests. In the 1980s, controversy around the “corporate” university left some thinking schools’ mission to teach and research was replaced by real estate investments.
