Teens for Democracy was co-founded in 2021 by Ines Saltiel, now a student at Brown University, and Alexia Papageorgiou, now at Stanford, with the aim of increasing youth participation in democratic processes. Noting that most political systems are dominated by older generations, they wanted to address the age imbalance in policy making and promote early civic engagement.
